un:learning – American Ice Theatre’s New World Premiere Show
American Ice Theatre’s world premiere of this brand new full-length production features the audience seated at ice level (first come, first served upon arrival), alongside multiple performance spaces created with carpets integrated directly into the choreography.
un:learning examines the act of letting go of inherited rules — in skating, performance, and ourselves. Through movement, disruption, and collective risk, the work asks what becomes possible when we loosen control, interrupt habit, and choose curiosity over perfection.
The production includes contemporary and modern dance movement on ice, performed by professional contemporary skaters from across the United States and Canada, including Olympian, Jeremy Abbott as well as professionals from Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Minneapolis–St. Paul, New Hampshire, California, and Toronto.

2026 Deep Dive: Choreo Tools for Solo Ice Dance
We’re excited to announce an upcoming four-part virtual intensive focused specifically on choreography tools for Solo Ice Dance — designed for Technical Specialists, choreographers, and skating professionals who want to deepen their observational clarity and compositional vocabulary.
Led by Technical Specialists Katie Tetzloff & Brooklee Han along with choreographers Garrett Kling & Kate McSwain, this series will take a focused, practical look at how we analyze and build choreography using structured tools — including Time, Space, Energy, speed variation, skating skills, and compositional complexity.
Led by Technical Specialists and choreographers Katie Tetzloff and Brooklee Han, this series will explore how complexity is constructed and observed through Time, Space, and Energy, as well as through speed variation, skating skills, and intentional compositional choices within Solo Ice Dance programs. Together, we’ll examine real examples, refine language around choreographic elements, and bridge the gap between technical evaluation and artistic intention.
Each session is 90 minutes and will build on the previous conversation, creating space for nuanced discussion and applied analysis.

Save the dates: Tuesday, March 17; Tuesday, March 31; Tuesday, April 7; and Monday, April 13.
Pricing is $75 for all four sessions if purchased before the first session, or $25 per session after the series begins.
If you’re looking to sharpen your tools, clarify your vocabulary, and deepen your understanding of choreography in Solo Ice Dance, we’d love to have you join us.

French Judges Virtual Training: Analyzing the Choreographic Elements
We recently had the opportunity to lead a three-part virtual training (3 x 90-minute sessions) for Ballet sur Glace / Theatre on Ice French Federation judges, focused entirely on choreography tools and objective observation. Across the sessions, we unpacked the choreography dictionary we use to define and articulate movement elements, taking a close look at how complexity can be observed through Time, Space, and Energy — as well as through varied speeds, skating skills, and compositional choices within a program.
The discussion was rich and layered. Judges engaged deeply with video analysis, practicing how to identify and articulate what they were seeing with greater clarity and neutrality. Together, we explored how to move from instinctive reactions to more objective language when evaluating choreography.
We’re grateful they brought us in for this work — and excited to continue contributing to thoughtful, nuanced conversations around artistry in skating worldwide.
