Winter 2021 Virtual Deep Dive Series on Ensemble Choreography Tools
Our 2021 winter Deep Dive Series will be an in-depth virtual choreography education program on tools you can use when choreographing for ensembles. The 4 virtual sessions will run every other Saturday afternoon, Feb. 27 through April 10. The exact dates and themes of each class are:
- February 27: Form: How to Begin an Ensemble Piece
- March 13: Space: Blocking, Sketching & Planning
- March 27: Time: Dynamic Tempo Choices
- April 10: Energy: Expression & Performance
You can choose to register for 1 class at $25/class or all 4 classes for $75 total. All classes are from 2:30-4:00 PM Eastern Time. Registration is available on the form below for skaters and coaches ages 18+; registration will be available for the individual classes through Thursday, April 8, but the registration deadline with the discounted rate for all 4 classes will be Thursday, February 25th. All classes will be on the Zoom platform and will be recorded to view afterwards for those participants who register and pay ahead of time.
All 4 sessions will be led by AIT Co-Executive Directors, Kate McSwain and Garrett Kling. The Deep Dive Series is a more in-depth research style session that will give you the opportunity to experience hands-on exercises while also learning the basic tools and concepts in the development of ensemble choreography in skating. Each session will break down the four elements of choreography into clear and organized methods of creating movement and programs for ensembles.
